Two Westerville Police Officers Killed

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WTVN)--Two officers in the Westerville Police Department have died in a shooting early Saturday afternoon.

The department says two officers responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call that came in around 11:30AM from a home along Crosswind Drive.

Shots were fired at officers upon their arrival. One officer died at the scene, and the other was taken to OSU Wexner Medical Center, and died there.

The officers have been identified as Anthony Morelli and Eric Joering. Joering died at the scene, and Morelli died at the hospital. 

The suspect has been injured and taken into custody.

The incident even prompted a reaction from President Donald Trump.

Governor John Kasich, who lives in Westerville, also expressed his condolences.
