Funeral Set for Two Westerville Police Officers

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WTVN)--Funeral services have been set for the two Westerville Police officers, shot and killed in the line of duty over the weekend.

The visitation and funeral for Officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli will be held together, with visitation beginning at 10AM Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, on State Street in Westerville. Visitation lasts through 12PM, and the funeral there will follow at 12:30PM.

The officers were shot and killed while responding to a 9-1-1 call on a domestic disturbance at an apartment along Crosswind Drive. 30-year-old Quenton Smith opened fire on the officer upon their arrival, killing them both. Smith was also shot in the incident, and remains in the hospital.

On Monday, a procession led the officers from the Franklin County Coroner's Office to their respective funeral homes, with hundreds of police officers escorting them, and thousands of citizens lining the route. Memorials across Westerville have also been growing to honor the two officers.

Both men leave behind spouses and children.
