OSHP Trooper Charged with Drug Trafficking

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A Trooper with the State Highway Patrol is among six people facing federal charges for trafficking drugs.

The charges issued by the US Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio detail the distribution of drugs like opiates, HGH, cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.

43-year-old Jason Delcol of Delaware is accused of using his position to intervene in the cases involving at least two of his co-defendants--47-year-old Nicholas Glassburn of Delaware, and 37-year-old Benjamin Owings of Delaware.

US District Attorney Benjamin Glassman also alleges that Delcol visited Glassburn at least 16 times to discuss their illegal activity since October 2017, including at least twice while Delcol was in uniform, and driving his patrol cruiser.

The FBI and the Delaware County Drug Task Force assisted in the investigation.

Five of the six defendants are facing a detention hearing on Thursday.
