COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The franklin County Sheriff's Office says two people are in custody after a body was found decomposing in a duplex in Harrisburg.
Officials say the landlord of the duplex on High Street called authorities when the discovery of a body wrapped in garbage bag was made in a walkthrough of the home on Monday.
Sheriff's deputies, along with units from the Ohio BCI, responded, and began their investigation. It's believed the victim died of a drug overdose, and based on the rate of decomposition, the victim could have been in the home for at least a month.
The Franklin County Coroner is conducting the autopsy to officially determine the cause of death.
Detectives interviewed the residents on the first floor of the residence, 35-year-old Angela Nichols and 32-year-old Andrew Nichols. They used info from that interview and other evidence gathered to charge the two with Abuse of a Corpse and Tampering With Evidence.
The victim's name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
