I was humbled to get a phone call last Saturday from Lynn Bruce. She told me her family wanted me to speak at her dad's public memorial service. It was my honor.
I have so many stories and memories of Earle. In fact when I timed the first draft of my speech it ran about 20 minutes. Editing was difficult because Earle was one of a kind. I love him and will miss him.
If you're looking for a way to honor Earle, consider giving to the Earle and Jean Bruce Alzheimer's Research Fund in Neurology. Fighting Alzheimer's was Earle's passion. His father and two of his sisters were stricken with the disease and he was determined to find a cure. To date, the fund has raised more than $1.2 million. Earle started the fund more than a decade ago not knowing that he too would be invaded by the disease. Earle took the kickoff and carried the ball in the fight, now it's Buckeye Nation's turn to get the ball across the goal line.
