COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A fire gutted the Bob Evans restaurant on State Route 161, near Interstate 71, early Thursday morning.
Crews responded to the fire alarm that went off there, and originally found the flames originating from the kitchen. Further investigation found the fire spread to the roof, causing crews to abandon their efforts in the building, and take up a defensive position outside.
Part of the roof eventually ended up collapsing.
Columbus Fire crews got mutual assistance from the Worthington Fire Department, and were able to extinguish the flames.
There's no word yet on how the fire started, but executive at bob Evans say the building is a total loss.
One firefighter was injured.
