Franklin Co. Sheriff's Deputy Shot During Chase

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A Deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department was rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Saturday, following a chase and shooting on the city's soutwest side.

Authorities say it started with a traffic stop along Clime Road, near Harrisburg Pike. The suspect took off, but ended when the suspect vehicle crashed near Eakin Road.

The suspect then opened fire as officers approached and the deputy was shot. That suspect was then shot and killed.

The deputy was rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, and underwent emergency surgery. That deputy is now out of surgery, and in stable condition.

Authorities have yet to identify the suspect, as of Saturday evening. The Sheriff's Office has also yet to identify the Deputy that was shot.
