Car2go in Columbus Shutting Down May 31st

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A car-sharing service that has operated in Columbus since 2013 is shutting down, effective May 31st.

Operators of car2go announced Thursday that the lack of adoption for their services in the city led to the decision to cease operations here.

In a letter on its website, car2go says current subscribers can still use the service through May 31st, but cars may not be as easily available as before.

Subscribers can also use car2go at any of it's other US cities where they have operations, like Austin, Denver, New York City, and Seattle.

The service was designed to let subscribers pick up a car right off the street to use, then leave in their operating area for the next subscriber to use.
