NEWARK, Ohio (WTVN) -- There were some frayed nerves for a time Thursday morning in Newark, all because someone thought they were doing somebody else a favor.
That person left what was termed a "suspicious package" outside the city's police headquarters on South 4th Street.
The package was discovered by a city worker who notified the bomb squad, which led to the evacuation of the police building and some nearby businesses.
Police eventually learned the package had been dropped off by someone who hoped police could find out who it belonged to.
A better idea, say Newark police, would have been to call them first.
