COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Columbus Division of Fire has made an arrest in connection to last Friday's house explosion on the city's east side.
Investigators say the natural gas that filled the unit of a vacant duplex along North 20th Street originated from pipes in the basement that were damaged. The damage occurred on June 20th, two days before the blast that leveled the structure, damaged dozens of others, and seriously injured two people.
Investigators interviewed 34-year-old Marcus Lorenzo Taylor as a person of interest, and he confessed to causing the damage that led to the gas leak.
Taylor was arrested, and charged with two counts of aggravated arson. Investigators are still working to determine the source of the ignition that caused the blast.
