UPDATE: After a meeting between Urban Meyer and Ohio State Athletics Director Gene Smith on Wednesday, Meyer has been placed on paid administrative leave, as the university conducts an investigation into the matter. Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach Ryan Day has been named Interim Head Coach.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A new report says Ohio State Football Coach Urban Meyer knew about the domestic abuse allegations against now-former Wide Receivers Coach Zach Smith from back in 2015.

The report Wednesday from ESPN's Brett McMurphy cites text messages he obtained between Courtney Smith, the ex-wife of former Wide Receivers Coach Zach Smith, and the wives of other OSU football coaches, including Shelley Meyer.

Last week at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago, Meyer said he had no prior knowledge of the incident involving Smith from 2015.

Zach Smith was fired after Courtney Smith filed a civil protection order against him. The abuse allegedly goes back to at least 2009.

Smith was the last remaining staffer from when Meyer first came to Columbus in 2012. He had been on Meyer's staff since his days at the University of Florida.
