Panel investigating OSU coach expects to wrap-up in 14 days

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Ohio State expects its investigation into Coach Urban Meyer to be completed within 14 days.

In a statement, the university says a team led by a former chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will conduct the inquiry into Meyer and his actions surrounding knowledge of domestic abuse allegations against his staff.

Meyer is currently on paid administrative leave.

The Buckeyes begin their season on September 1st against Oregon State.

A rally in support of Meyer is planned for 6 p.m. Monday outside Ohio Stadium.  ABC 6 says it was organized by Jeff Hamm, who's coming from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to back the coach.

Meanwhile, In just a few days, a “Change.Org” petition aimed at saving Urban Meyer’s coaching job at Ohio State has gathered more than 20,000 signatures.

The petition was started by Blake Firestone and reads, “Urban Meyer is on the hot seat and can be wrongfully fired from Ohio State. It is up to us Buckeye Nation to help him, not just for him but for THE Ohio State University and the great state of Ohio!”
