Legionnaires disease at north Columbus office

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Franklin County health officials are taking measures to stop a possible outbreak of Legionnaires disease at a Job and Family Services office on the north side.

Doctors diagnosed two employees who work at the Northland Opportunity Center on Northland Park Avenue with the disease and informed the county on Wednesday.

Legionnaires’ disease is a form of pneumonia and can be spread through infected water vapor.

The office will remain open but staff are closing down water fountains and testing the facility for the bacteria which spreads the disease.
