Chillicothe inmates, guards rushed to hospital

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WTVN) -- Inmates and guards at the Ross Correctional Institution are getting treatment after they were exposed to an unknown substance Wednesday morning.

Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe says no less than 11 people connected to the situation are being treated at its emergency department and decontamination areas are in place at the hospital.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says there is no threat to the public or medics on scene at the prison.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has closed State Route 104 between Moundsville Road and State Route 207 at Chillicothe.

All traffic is being detoured via Bridge Street/U.S. Route 23.
