Authorities hunt inmate accidentally released from jail

MANSFIELD, Ohio (WTVN) -- Police are looking for an escaped inmate who was mistakenly released from the Richland County jail.

Officials say Cornelius Phillips was released from the jail on Tuesday evening and headed south where he may have gotten into a blue Hyundai Sonata.

Phillips had been jailed on charges of drug possession and endangering children.

The U.S. Marshall’s Service is working with local law enforcement to locate phillips.

Authorities say he is considered armed and dangerous.
