PLAIN CITY, Ohio (WTVN) -- The Union County Sheriff's Office says a worker died at a construction site near Plain City in an accident involving a skid loader and a bundle of lumber.
It happened around 9 o'clock Thursday morning at a worksite off Hyland Croy Road, north of Post Road, when 53-year old Rodney Hickman of Westerville was hit by the lumber that had fallen off the skid loader.
Rescue crews and paramedics were on-scene within two minutes, but Hickman died after being rushed to Riverside Hospital with head and chest injuries.
OSHA investigators discovered straps on the lumber apparently gave way while being lifted by the skid loader.
The accident remains under investigation.
