Central Ohio stores, businesses impacted by E.coli recall

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- A Target distribution center in West Jefferson along with Meijer and Sam’s Club stores are among the places said to have received ground beef products that have been recalled by Cargill Meat Solutions.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the more than 132,00 pounds of ground beef may be contaminated with the E. coli bacteria.

The recall came a week ago, following reports of 17 illnesses and one death.  the affected products have a "freeze by" date of July 11th and were sold under the Excel, Our Certified, Sterling Silver, and Fire River brands.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
