Like Buckeye football coach Urban Meyer, Ohio State Director of Athletics Gene Smith served a suspension in the aftermath of the August investigation into whether domestic violence allegations against former OSU receivers coach Zach Smith were handled properly. The Buckeye AD joined Stan Jackson and me Thursday on "The Drive" in his first interview since his return.
Smith talked candidly with us about moving forward from the suspension, the lessons learned by the Athletic Department, his relationship with Urban Meyer, the negative national perception of Ohio State and more. We appreciate Gene's willingness to talk with us and his candor. There were lighter moments as well, including comments about the Buckeye win at Penn State, the Browns loss to Oakland and the Indians preparing for the playoffs.
