Columbus Adding Crews to Combat Illegal Dumping

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--The city of Columbus is adding a new pick-up crew assigned to collect large piles of illegally dumped garbage across the city.  

Officials announced the crew would be working in the areas of South Columbus, Franklinton, and the Hilltop which have been targeted by illegal dumpers for months.  

Columbus Waste Management plans to add at least two more crews in the coming weeks.  

According to city code, illegal dumping is a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to a one-thousand dollar fine and 180-days in jail.
