Speeding Tickets in Buckeye Lake may be Invalid

BUCKEYE LAKE, Ohio (24-7 News)--The chief of the Buckeye Lake Police Department says all speeding tickets issued in the village, dating back to 2013, may have been illegal.

According to reports issued Thursday, Chief Vicki Wardlow informed the village's council that the department had failed to renew its radio license with the FCC five years ago, making the speeds registered on any radar guns invalid.

According to FCC rules, radar guns transmit and receive radio signals, and public safety agencies must have the proper federal license to use them legally.

The village is now in the process of renewing its license.
