COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Columbus Police are investigating after a body was discovered inside Big Walnut Park over the weekend.
According to a report issued by the CPD Monday, a group of teenagers found the remains on Sunday night and alerted authorities.
Detectives say the body is badly decomposed and have asked Ohio State to send an anthropologist to assist with gathering DNA evidence.
The Franklin County coroner said because of the condition of the remains it may take as long as a month to get an identification.
Neighbors who talked to ABC-6 say there is a homeless camp nearby, and evidence of a recently-lit camp fire were found in the area as well.
