Grandmothers Charged For Roles in Pike Co. Murders Plead Not Guilty

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--The two grandmothers accused of helping cover up the Pike County Massacre are pleading not guilty to charges of obstruction of justice and perjury.

Rita Jo Newcomb and Fredericka Carol Wagner appeared in court Thursday to enter their pleas.

Prosecutors say the women willingly helped to cover up the murders of eight members of the Rhoden family, allegedly committed by George Wagner the Third, his wife Angela, and their two sons.

The women were placed under house arrest and ordered not to have contact with members of the victims' family.

"Jake" Wagner has an initial court appearance set for Friday.
