Former CPD Sergeant Pleads Guilty to Possessing Child Pornography

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A former Sergeant in the Columbus Police Department has admitted in court to possessing and distributing child pornography.

A judge set sentencing for Dean Worthington for January 10th, after he pled guilty to four charges related to the activity, including pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor.

Prosecutors say Worthington used his cell phone to upload and download the material to social media, through Tumblr.

Worthington was also labeled a Tier II sex offender, meaning he'll have to register for the next 25 years.

He was arrested in July, and resigned from his position at CPD in October. He also served as the Department's Public Information Officer for a short time.
