Ohio Becomes 1st State to Accept Bitcoin for Tax Payment

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Ohio is now the first state in the country to accept the crypto-currency Bitcoin as tax payment for businesses.

The Ohio Treasurer's Office made the announcement Monday while launching a new website called Ohio-crypto-dot-com.

State officials say the payments offer real-time tracking and are converted to U.S. dollars before being deposited.

The Treasurer's Office also said there are currently 23-different taxes eligible for payment using Bitcoin.
