Owner of Now-Closed Dublin Bridal Shop Sued

DUBLIN, Ohio (WTVN)--The owner of a closed bridal shop in Dublin is being sued by the Ohio Attorney General for failure to deliver gowns to dozens of customers.

Details of the lawsuit were made public Thursday, charging defendant Frances Murphy with violating state consumer protection laws for not delivering gowns, providing alterations, or issuing refunds.

More than 40 customers say the violations happened after Elegant Bride in Dublin suddenly closed without notice last March.

The lawsuit alleges that in some cases Elegant Bride told consumers their dresses had been ordered when they hadn’t been and that in many cases the company failed to pay dress manufacturers for the dresses consumers had purchased.

The lawsuit is seeking monetary damages for customers who purchased but never received their items.
