Columbus City Council Approves Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus City Council has approved a set of rules and regulations for the operation of several medical marijuana dispensaries.

Council set out the standards for where they can operate, and making the businesses obtain a special permit, which will cost about $1,900.

There are five approved locations in Franklin County, on Vine Street, Georgesville Road, Grandview Avenue, North High Street and along Cassady Avenue.

It follows approval from the State of Ohio for the medical marijuana program, which is now well-behind schedule for its rollout.

The program was originally supposed to be up and running by September, but now state officials are hopeful that it will be operational by the end of the year.
