CPD Vice Unit Resumes Limited Operations

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Columbus Police Department's Vice Unit has resumed operations, on a limited basis.

That from CPD on Friday.

The department put the entire unit on "pause" back in September after a series of high-profile cases, including the arrest of porn star Stormy Daniels back in July.

Charges against her, and two workers at Sirens gentlemen's club, were eventually dropped, and the department is also facing legal action from that incident, which the Columbus City Attorney says was politically motivated.

It also follows the shooting death of Donna Castleberry in August, with an undercover Vice Officer getting into an altercation with the woman during a prostitution sting.

The department has resumed vice operations only for nuisance abatement and liquor violations. Officers also need approval from a superior before going undercover.

This as the FBI investigation into the department's conduct continues.
