Pike County Sheriff Accused of Misconduct

WAVERLY, Ohio (24-7 News)--Authorities are now investigating after a complaint filed with the Ohio Auditor of State's Office over the actions of the Pike County sheriff.

Documents released Monday show Pike County prosecuting attorney Rob Junk filed a motion last week asking for the appointment of a special prosecutor to look into possible misconduct by Sheriff Charles Reader.

An anonymous tip sent in early November complained that Reader was using seized drug money to fund an ongoing gambling addiction and maintained an atmosphere of intimidation in the department.

The Ohio Auditor's office declined to comment further until the investigation has concluded.
