Police Chief in Waverly Demoted

WAVERLY, Ohio (WTVN)--Council in the village of Waverly has voted to demote the Police Chief to a patrolman, over allegations of work-related misconduct.

Larry Roe will still receive his wage of just over $25 an hour until his retirement in June of 2019.

Critics wanted village council to terminate the chief, but Mayor Greg Kempton tells ABC-6 that the actions of Roe did not rise to the level of criminal activity, which would have justified a firing.

The mayor added that the focus now is to find a new Police Chief. Dennis Crabtree is the Interim Police Chief.
