No Clemency for Tom Noe from Outgoing Governor

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Outgoing Governor John Kasich is leaving office without any clemency for a man at the center of the Coingate scandal over a decade ago.

Kasich released his final list of sentence commutations and pardons Wednesday without the name of Tom Noe after a parole board had voted in favor of denying clemency.

Noe has served ten years of an 18-year sentence for embezzling from a 50-million-dollar rare-coin fund he operated for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

Dubbed Coingate, Noe was at the center of a scandal that rocked the statehouse and ended in then-Governor Bob Taft's conviction on ethics violations.
