Pickerington Police Chief to Retire, Amid Controversy

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (WTVN)--The Police Chief in the city of Pickerington is retiring on February 19th, amid a controversy created by anonymous letters to city hall.

Michael Taylor was accused using racist, homophobic, and sexist remarks as chief, with the allegations coming in two letters sent to city officials.

Pickerington City Manager Frank Wiseman released a video statement Tuesday, saying that Taylor will be using personal time up until his official retirement date.

Wiseman added that the city will not continue to investigate the claims made in the letters.

A special counsel had been brought in to investigate the claims, but with Taylor's retirement, that effort will end.

Taylor has been Police Chief since 2003.
