Two Acting Police Chiefs Named in Westerville

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (24-7 News)--The city of Westerville is announcing the names of two officers who will serve alternate terms as Chief of Police while a search for a permanent replacement is underway.

Officials said Wednesday that Assistant Chiefs Charles Chandler and Holly Murchland would each serve three-month periods while the city interviews candidates.

Chandler is expected to begin his term today, with Murchland succeeding him in late April.

Former Westerville police Chief Joe Morbitzer resigned after recently becoming the head of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

He was appointed to that post with Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost sworn in last week.
