Overdose Deaths Drop in Ohio, But Not in Franklin County

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--New figures from the Ohio Department of Health are showing a decrease in overdose deaths across most of the state.

Officials say overdose deaths dropped over 21-percent between July 2017 and July 2018 which was the biggest decline in the country.

Numbers in Franklin County remained the same as the coroner reported 345 people died from drug-related causes in the first eight months of 2018 which was the same number as the same period in 2017.

The CDC says 21 states showed a decrease of overdose deaths with Ohio leading the way followed by South Dakota, Montana, and Oklahoma.
