COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The final patient of Dr. William Husel, believed to have died as a result of an overdose at Mt. Carmel Hospital, has been identified.
A new wrongful death lawsuit is expected to be filed Thursday on behalf of Melissa Penix, who died of an overdose of fentanyl in November 2018.
The family says Penix received a 2,000 microgram dose of the powerful painkiller, about 20-times the recommended amount for a human being.
Multiple families have filed wrongful death lawsuits against Dr. Husel, Mt. Carmel, and other associates.Dr. Husel's wife, Mariah Baird, has also been named in at least one lawsuit, since she was a nurse at Mt. Carmel.
Dr. Husel has been fired from Mt. Carmel, and his medical license was suspended by the Ohio Medical Board.
