Driver Dies in Flood Waters in Pike County

WAVERLY, Ohio (WTVN)--The Pike County Sheriff's Office says a man died Thursday, after driving in to flood waters that have overtaken a roadway.

The Sheriff's Office says 58-year-old Donald Denny of Wellston was found dead outside of his vehicle, along State Route 124.

Deputies say it appears Denny got out of his vehicle, after it had been submerged in flood waters, and Denny may have died of over-exertion while trying to escape.

Denny's car and body were found hundreds of feet past the posted "road closed" signs.

Authorities urge drivers not to attempt to drive through standing water.
