Grant Reed, who Nicknamed his Cancer "Michigan", has Passed Away

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Family, friends, and Buckeye fans across the country are mourning the death of Grant Reed after he passed away yesterday a six-year battle with cancer.

Reed came to the attention of Ohio State fans in 2012 when at age eleven he was diagnosed with brain cancer he later nicknamed Michigan after OSU's heated rivals.

The story gained national attention and a visit from then Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer for support in beating Michigan.

Reed was able to overcome his cancer twice through surgery and chemotherapy but his father said it returned last August.
