COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Nationwide Insurance says they will begin offering a new option for motorists who don't put many miles on their vehicles when they drive.
The company said Wednesday the new program is called SmartMiles and will allow customers to purchase insurance by the mile rather than a policy of six months or a year.
Nationwide has already released the option in Illinois and plans to implement it across the country soon.
Company officials say the new policy will monitor miles driven and a bill will then be sent based on mileage used.
