New Short North Parking Regulations Now Enforced

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--City officials say the grace period for residents and visitors to the Short North to learn the new parking restrictions is over as of Tuesday.

Columbus police said Monday they would start handing out citations to those parked illegally now that a month has passed since the regulations went into effect.

Under the new rules, there is no longer any free on-street parking in the Short North, Italian Village, or Victorian Village areas north of downtown.

Shortly after the signs regarding the parking regulations went up in the neighborhoods, many of them were vandalized, and had to be replaced.

Residents have been encouraged to buy permits for parking areas, and visitors will be able to use meters or to pay with a downloadable application on their phones.
