Man Assaulted in April 2018 dies, CPD Considers it Homicide

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A man who was assaulted in April of 2018 died in February of 2019, and the Columbus Police Department considers it the 16th homicide of 2019.

Officers say 57-year-old Cameron Thurman was severely injured in an altercation early in the morning of April 12th, 2018 in an alley along Wisconsin Avenue.

Thurman was originally taken to Mt. Carmel West Hospital, where his injuries were determined to be more serious than first thought.

Police say Thurman died on February 23rd, and the coroner determined his injuries from that assault directly resulted in his death.

The investigation into his attack is now considered a homicide, and thus far there are no suspects named or in custody.
