Pedestrian Struck, Teens Arrested from Southeast-side Chase

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Franklin County Sheriff's office says a chase involving deputies led to a pedestrian struck Tuesday afternoon in Columbus's southeast side, and five teenagers arrested.

It started with the vehicle going northbound in the southbound lanes of South Hamilton Road, around 2:30PM Tuesday afternoon. 61-year-old Arthur Smith was crossing the roadway, and was hit by the vehicle.

The chase ensued along Winchester Pike, where the vehicle drove through some yards and eventually stopped. The occupants tried to flee, but were apprehended.

The driver was identified as 16-year-old Ramadhan Muridi, and arrested for felony hit-skip, along with other charges.

Smith was taken to grant Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Deputies also found stolen credit cards, a card skimmer, and alcohol in the stolen vehicle.
