Two Awaiting Sentencing for Healthcare Fraud

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Prosecutors are saying a Columbus area couple has agreed to plead guilty to running a health-care fraud scheme involving prescriptions to city employees and first responders.

Documents released Wednesday say Amy Kirk and Ryan Edney will enter in guilty pleas to one count of conspiring to commit health care fraud.

The two were defrauding Medicare and other health insurers by billing for compound cream medications deemed not medically necessary.

The couple will be sentenced at a later date and could be facing up to ten years in prison.
