Report of Missing Four-Year-Old Girl in Columbus was Fake

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Police say a report of a four-year-old girl, that was reported missing over the weekend, was fake.

Officers say they received a response to their post on facebook for the girl, with a picture included, from the family of the girl in the picture, who is from Pennsylvania. They saw the information on a post from KDKA-TV.

They confirmed to police that the girl in the picture is not four years old, and is not missing, nor did she ever go missing.

On Monday, police issued an alert for what they were told was a four year old girl last seen in the area of Hampton Road and E. Broad Street in east Columbus.

The missing persons unit determined that the Columbus woman who said her child was missing during her theft arraignment on Monday, fabricated the story.
