Central Ohio's 1st Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens Next Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Central Ohio's first medical marijuana dispensary will open to the public next week.

The owner/operator of Terrasana, on Grandview Avenue near I-670, received his operating license from state regulators on Thursday, and plans to open for business on Tuesday.

So far, only a handful of dispensaries are up and operating since the state's medical marijuana program was approved in 2017.

Patients have to be registered with the state of Ohio in order to receive a prescription for cannabis, and need to use it for treatment of any of 21 ailments approved by the state.

The Ohio Department of Commerce, which oversees the medical marijuana program, said nearly 5500 patients had bought cannabis since January.
