Body Pulled from Scioto River Identified

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Police have confirmed the body of a local activist was recovered from the Scioto River on Saturday.

28-year-old Amber Evans went missing near the Scioto Mile in late-January. Her body was recovered near the Whittier Street peninsula.

Officers withheld the identity of the body until family was notified.

Evans was active in local social justice organizations, including "Showing up for Racial Justice".

Amber's mother, Tonya Fischer, reacted to the news with a video posted to facebook Sunday.

She also noted that a vigil for her daughter will be held Wednesday at the Scioto Mile, where her car was found abandoned in January.
