Ohio AG Vows To Protect Ohioans with Pre-Existing Conditions

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--With the Affordable Care Act back under debate in Washington, DC, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is vowing to protect health coverage for Ohioans with pre-existing conditions.

Yost is set to file a brief in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals to argue that the individual mandate can be removed from the law, without removing the entire law altogether.

He says lawyers call it "severability".

Approximately 1.9-million Ohioans have a pre-existing medical condition, and Yost says that figure does not begin to count the elderly population that would also be impacted.

Congress decided against repealing and replacing "Obamacare" shortly after president Donald Trump took office.
