COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Columbus Police officers are returning to bicycle patrols in Linden, the Hilltop, and Southside neighborhoods starting today.
The 2019 Safe Streets program would run until October 5th this year, two months longer than last year. Safe Streets will use 30 officers, six sergeants, and one lieutenant to engage the community with a positive police presence.
Data released by the CPD shows in 2018 in the areas where the Safe Streets program was used there was a substantial decrease in violent crime, burglaries, and motor-theft.
