Summary Approved to Tie Ohio's Electoral Votes to Popular Vote Winner

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio Attorney General has approved a summary of a proposed ballot initiative that would tie the state's electoral votes, in the presidential election, to the popular vote nationwide.

Dave Yost says supporters of the move submitted two summaries, with one of the two being considered "fair and truthful".

The movement is gaining steam across the country, with two of the last three presidents winning their initial election without winning the popular vote.

Supporters say it will lead to the American people being able to elect the President of the United States, instead of the electoral college.

Here in Ohio, the motion now goes before the Ohio Ballot Board, which will approved the language of the initiative, before voters can begin gathering the necessary signatures needed to put the issue before voters.
