Drug Raid Leads to Dog-Fighting Ring, over 20 Dogs Seized

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Animal control agents rescued 20-dogs from a dog-fighting ring operating in Franklin County.

According to reports, 34-year-old German Sanchez was arrested Thursday after deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office raided a home off Dexter Avenue on Columbus' west side.

Sanchez was originally wanted in connection with narcotics trafficking when it was learned he was allegedly involved in dog-fighting.

Officials from Columbus Humane were called in after the raid and say they confiscated a total of 13 mature pit bulls, one Yorkshire Terrier, and six puppies from the house.
