Three More Companies Get Permits for E-Scooters in Columbus

Uber To Partner With Electric Scooter Rental Company Lime In $335 Million Deal

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--There could be an estimated 15-hundred electric scooters on the streets of Columbus this summer, now that permits have been issued for three new companies.

The companies known as Spin, ROAM Bikes, and Jump are the latest vendors to obtain one of the eight permits the city allows to operate the scooters.

City regulations say each vendor is allowed up to 500 mobility devices with the new operators joining Bird and Lime who have been in Columbus since last fall.

The Columbus Division of Infrastructure Management says they are continuing to monitor the use of the scooters so they can determine the best way to make the devices safe to riders, motorists, and pedestrians.
