Lawsuit Filed Against Manufacturer of "Fire Ball" Ride

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The manufacturer of the "Fire Ball" ride, which broke apart at the 2017 Ohio State Fair, is now facing a lawsuit.

The law firm Rourke and Blumenthal LLP took the action, claiming that KMG International designed and manufactured a defective product.

One of the gondolas carrying passengers broke apart during operation at the fair in Columbus in July 2017, killing one person and injuring seven others.

The suit claims KMG was made aware of the ride's deficiencies back in 2012, but failed to notify owners, operators, or riders of the problem.

Lawyers also claim that the company acted recklessly and fraudulently by their failure to act.
